The next phase is officially in full swing. With all 32 teams in training camp, the news continues to flood in as we head into the first full week of preseason action.

The Washington Commanders suffered a big blow on Saturday when star left tackle Laremy Tunsil tore his triceps in practice, which will cause him to miss a significant portion of the regular season.

Meanwhile, running backs got paid this week, as Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is reportedly inking a three-year, $66.75 million extension with the team, briefly making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history.

… That is, until the Detroit Lions agreed to a long-term extension with Jahmyr Gibbs on Thursday. It’s a three-year, $67.5 million deal worth up to $75.75 million with incentives. Gibbs hasn’t been participating in training camp practices while the two sides negotiate a deal, so we should expect to see him back on the field soon with news of an extension.

In other running back news, Jonathan Taylor also agreed to a two-year, $44 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.

But offensive lineman are also getting their fair share of headlines. A few days after the Chicago Bears made Darnell Wright the richest right tackle in the game, the Buffalo Bills reportedly signed guard O’Cyrus Torrence to a four-year, $78.4 million deal. Then the Tennessee Titans reset the market at the position by inking Peter Skoronski to a four-year, $100 million extension.

The Detroit Lions and veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.425 million, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The deal reportedly includes $475k fully guaranteed.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III went down awkwardly at practice on Saturday and left early with a trainer.

The wideout walked off under his own power, but was walking gingerly. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Burden suffered a groin injury and that he will miss “a little bit of time.”

The second-year wide receiver was expected to take on a larger role in the Chicago offense after the franchise traded away DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills this offseason.

With Burden sidelined, more pressure will be applied to Rome Odunze, Kalif Raymond, Jahdae Walker, Scotty Miller and Zavion Thomas.

Detroit Lions veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater told the team on Sunday that he plans to step away from the team and football. Head coach Dan Campbell announced the message to the public. The 33-year-old said that retirement is likely.

Bridgewater was competing to be Jared Goff’s backup. Currently, Detroit’s only other quarterback in camp is Luke Altmyer. The Lions are expected to work out quarterbacks to determine Goff’s backup.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Haynes King is week-to-week with a hamstring injury, per The Athletic’s Joe Person.

King was battling it out with Kenny Pickett for the backup role behind starter Bryce Young. He went undrafted in this year’s NFL Draft, but had been impressing during camp.

This culminated in a highlight-reel moment for King when he scored the game-winning touchdown as time expired in Thursday’s Hall of Fame game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III was seen leaving practice with a trainer early on Saturday. Burden III was walking under his own power, and not much is known about the injury other than that he had an awkward landing.

The assumption is that he is dealing with a lower-body injury, but nothing has been confirmed by the team.

Burden III is heading into his second season and is expected to take on a larger role in the offense. Chicago traded away veteran wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, paving the way for Burden III and Rome Odunze to duke it out for the WR1 role.

Burden III played in 15 games as a rookie. He brought in 47 of his 60 targets for 652 yards and two touchdowns.

The Indianapolis Colts were without wide receiver Josh Downs on Saturday. The team later announced that he was dealing with a groin injury.

One of the more concerning aspects of this injury is that groin injuries can vary in recovery. Some have the player day-to-day, others require a couple of weeks of recovery. It has not been revealed how bad Downs’ groin injury is.

Downs is expected to have a bigger role in the Colts’ offense in 2026. In recent years, he has been the WR3. With Indianapolis trading Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, Downs is primed for an increased role and target share, assuming he can stay on the field.

The wide receiver has been in the league for three years. So far, he has played in 47 total games and has tallied 2.140 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is in the process of establishing a culture in his first year at the helm. That comes with a standard he wants everyone to meet — he made it clear Saturday that there are no exceptions.

“We have very clear expectations on how we want to practice and how we want to go about our business, and we violated that yesterday,” Kubiak told reporters, according to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.

Because of the scuffle Kirk Cousins and Maxx Crosby got into on Friday, the team’s first-string quarterback and star pass rusher were both held out of practice on Saturday.

Kubiak said they will participate again on Monday, per McFadden.

Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said that wide receiver Zay Flowers picked up a quad contusion at practice on Saturday. Flowers is now considered day-to-day.

The news comes just days after the WR inked a four-year, $140 million extension with the franchise.

Flowers is heading into his fourth season in the NFL. He has played in 50 games and has combined for 3,128 yards with 14 touchdowns so far.

Washington Commanders left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered an apparent injury during a 1-on-1 drill with outside linebacker Odafe Oweh on Saturday in training camp, according to The Washington Post’s Tashan Reed.

The five-time Pro Bowler reportedly left the field, was examined in the medical tent and then went back to the team’s facility for further evaluation.

Tunsil will have his injury tested, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, who reported that the issue appeared to concern the veteran’s shoulder/neck.

“Not sensing any huge panic, but the testing will tell the story, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he missed some time,” Garafolo wrote on X.

Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson told reporters Saturday that the 2026 season will probably be his last. ESPN’s Tim McManus reported that the 36-year-old Johnson missed four practices while dealing with a personal matter and is mindful of an impending pivot to focusing fully on off-field life.

“As you get older, things change in your life, priorities,” Johnson said. “Your children get older, your parents get older, and so it just puts things into perspective.

“This is potentially going to be probably my last year, just cause I am getting to that point of those priorities away from football starting to merge. Not that I don’t enjoy — I love everything about this game and preparing for it — but that’s kind of where I’m at in my career.”

He added: “Just looking forward to this year, playing the best I can and staying healthy.”

The Philadelphia Eagles have a new offensive coordinator in Sean Mannion. But the first-time OC, who coached quarterbacks last year for the Green Bay Packers, doesn’t plan on moving away from one play that most definitely works.

The Tush Push isn’t going anywhere, despite efforts by other NFL teams — notably the Packers — to ban the play.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has received a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league announced on Friday.

The five-year veteran will serve the suspension during the Colts’ Week 1 matchup versus the Baltimore Colts. He will be eligible to return for Week 2, when Indianapolis visits the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor-Britt is also allowed to play during the preseason.

Taylor-Britt, 26, was arrested in September 2025 for reckless driving (allegedly doing a burnout with his vehicle) and driving without a license near the Cincinnati Bengals’ home field of Paycor Stadium. In January, he reached a plea deal with prosecutors and was sentenced to serve five days in jail.

After four seasons with the Bengals, Taylor-Britt signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Colts. He is currently listed as third on the team’s depth chart at cornerback behind Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward.

In a tough blow for Denver, defensive lineman Matt Henningsen has torn his Achilles tendon, per Mike Klis of 9News.

The injury occurred one year, to the day, after Henningsen tore his other Achilles. The defensive end’s previous injury occurred on August 7, 2025, during a joint practice with the 49ers.

Henningsen was ruled out for the entire 2025 season while rehabilitating the injury. He will now have a long, and brutally familiar, road to recovery ahead of him this year.

Practice at Las Vegas Raiders training camp became feisty on Friday with a scuffle between defensive end Maxx Crosby and starting quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Cousins, who signed with the Raiders in April, took exception to Crosby hitting him twice during 11-on-11 plays, according to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden. After getting hit on the arm a second time, the veteran QB went at Crosby, grabbing his jersey. The two yelled at each other before teammates stepped in to break up the fracas.

New Raiders coach Klint Kubiak didn’t mind the intensity among players, but wants them to be cautious about letting emotions get out of control.

“Those are two leaders on our team going at it,” Kubiak told reporters. “Obviously, fighting in a game [or] you throw a punch in a game, you are out of the game. So we got to be smart.”

Prior to training camp opening, Crosby acknowledged to reporters that he was warned by coaches about hitting the quarterback during practice.
