If you only have one day in Mongolia, how do you spend it? What are the best things that can be seen and do near Ulaanbaaatar?
I recently asked this question when I was very short in the country after traveling in China. Don’t understand me wrongly, I wanted to see more Mongolia, but it is a big country and you need a lot of time to achieve this.
I decided to join a tourist group for today, we visited the Genghis Khan statue, and we had lunch in the traditional Eurit with Badawi, watched the TERELJ National Park, and we performed some other good activities in the Ulaanbaatar area.
It has been well spent, and we have accomplished a great deal of viewing the city’s landmarks for a short time. Read on to get a full writing for my experience!

How did you ever spent in Mongolia
• Genghis Khan statue
We started visiting the giant statue of Genghis Khan outside Ulaanbaaatar.
It is one hour away from the city, where we chose our guide, but the roads are not bad and we were in a comfortable car, so we did not mind.

This is the country’s most famous teacher, and it is also the largest equestrian statue (horseback) in the world.
The stainless steel statue was completed in 2008, with a length of 40 meters (130 feet). It is located above the visitor center, which contains a small museum, a cafe and a gift store.
First, we went to the basement, where our guide talked about the history of the Mongol Empire and showed us some artifacts, including some weapons and the golden “Paiza” (a diplomatic passport used by Mongol officials).
After that, we went to the top of the statue to see Genghis closely.
Usually there is an elevator that you can ride to the top, but it was broken when you are there, so we had to climb a set of very narrow trips from the stairs instead.
The top has a great look on the overlapping plains, in addition to the great Khan’s face, but there is only a limited space where you can stand, so that it is very crowded during the day. I can barely move there.
This was one of my only fists about the tour. We could avoid the worst crowd by going to the top of the statue first, and then doing the date of date on the basement after that.
This was not a big problem, but I hope they would set their itinerary to take into account. Learn from our mistake if you can!

Before leaving the statue complex, there was a bird processor outside that allowed us to hold the steel eagle. They have been trained and used by local fishermen. amazing!
We encouraged our evidence to do this because it was included for free as part of our tour. There was no fees and they did not ask for advice.
They also gave us a chance to ride beauty, but I actually did so in other countries, so I passed.

• Lunch in Euro
After seeing the statue, we stopped in the house of the EURT (traditional tent) owned by Badawi, and we took samples of yak and cream cheese, which is good.
This man was calm, but it turned out that he was already a national horse riding champion in Mongolia, which is great. He had all kinds of medals hanging on his walls.
For lunch, we moved to the last eur and ate Mongolian food (mainly lamb), which was great. This was included with the tour and was very full.

• Gorky Davi National Park
Our next stop was the Terlig National Park. It is an hour drive from the statue, or a little beyond Ulaanbaaatar. This time there was a part of the rough rugged road from the road to there.
Here, we made a short visit to the Turtle Rock top, which included climbing some rocks and pressing through some cracks. It was fun and not very difficult for anyone in the group.
As you may guess from the name, this giant rock got its name from the shape. Looking at it from the eastern side, it looks like turtles.

Terlig looked like a nice garden, but I was disappointed by the widespread development inside the garden.
There seems to be a new building that occurs everywhere, a kind of revenge for natural beauty.
Since it is a national park, I hope the Mongolian government will take care of it better.
Rocky Hills in the Terilj National Park
• Deir Ariapala
At our last station, we went to see Aryapala, a nineteenth -century Buddhist temple.
It is in the hills of the national park, just 10 minutes by car from Turtle Rock, but it was the most rugged road that we had all day.
You need to climb a set of stairs to reach the top, then you can enjoy a nice look on the entire valley.
It was peaceful there, and it appears to be a good way to end our tour for one day in Mongolia.

Final ideas
In general, I think this tour was a good introduction to Mongolia and a few of the best landmarks close to UNANAPAR.
Only one day, you will not have time to see the Jobi Desert, or really get lost in the country, but it was still interesting and gave me a better feeling of culture and landscapes.
I had a good experience in Mongolia, and I hope to be able to return again one day to go deep into the countryside.
