Geneva (Reuters) -Israel’s attack in Gaza, which was launched in response to the Palestinian Hamas Armed Group on South Israeli societies on October 7, 2023, killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and waste marina on land areas.
Below is a summary of the extent of death and damage during the Gaza war, with a lot of data derived from reports issued by the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs Coordination (OCA).
Deaths in Gaza
Since October 7, 2023, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with nearly a third of the dead under the age of 18, according to the health authorities in Gaza.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza does not distinguish between civilians and fighters in its balance. Israel has already said at least 20,000 dead who were fighters.
Israel says its attack is directed against Hamas and that it is trying to avoid killing civilians, but the group is hiding among the civilian population, a confirmation that Hamas denies.
Last month, the United Nations investigation committee assessed that Israel committed the genocide in Gaza – noting the scope of killings as one of the actions that support its discovery. Israel called the biased discovery and a “scandal.”
Israeli deaths
At least 1665 Israelis and foreigners of foreign citizens were killed as a result of the war between October 7, 2023 and September 29, 2025, according to official Israeli information. Among them, 1,200 were killed in the October 7 attack.
The Israeli army says that 466 of its soldiers were killed in the fighting, and the wounded of 2951 wounded, since the Gaza Earth operation began on October 27, 2023.
Hamas returned 251 people to Gaza hostile after the October 7 attack. Israel says 48 hostages remain in Gaza, and it is believed that 20 of them are alive.
Under the plan, the two sides are discussing to stop the war, and the remaining hostages will be handed over in an exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israel, but a rapid agreement in the talks, unlikely.
Damaged buildings
About 193,000 buildings were destroyed in Gaza, according to the analysis conducted by the United Nations Satellite Center for the latest numbers from July. She said that about 213 hospitals and 1029 schools were targeted.
14 hospitals in Gaza remain only 36 partial hospitals, according to the World Health Organization, and the one in southern Gaza is overcome.
The United Nations Human Rights Office expressed its concern about the level of destruction in Gaza City, the main urban center in the pocket, and said that any intentional effort to transport the population would be an ethnic cleansing.
Displacement
Only 18 % of the Gaza Strip is subject to displacement orders or falls inside the military areas, according to the United Nations. Many Palestinians have been displaced several times.
Since Israel expanded its military campaign in Gaza City in mid -August, where it pledged to collect Hamas fighters, the United Nations recorded more than 417,000 displays from people from north to south of the pocket.
Israel urged the residents of Gaza City to go south. But the circumstances in southern Gaza are harsh, with families ’cash in temporary tents and excessive services in an attempt to deal with the new expatriates, says relief agencies.
Food and hunger
Global hunger monitoring in August said that the famine had adhered to it in Gaza City and was likely to spread. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused the report as a “frank lie”.
Integrated food security classification system said that 514,000 people – nearly a quarter of the Palestinians in Gaza – were suffering from starvation.
At least 177 people – including 36 children – have died due to hunger and malnutrition since starvation in parts of Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
The United Nations Population Fund said more than 60 % of pregnant women and new mothers suffer from malnutrition.
Help
On May 21, Israel raised a 11 -week blockade of supplies entering Gaza. The relief agencies said that the calm of the aid that arrives in Gaza had retracted the needs.
Several relief agencies say they are still facing logistical restrictions and obstacles, including the closure of the Gaza Gaza crossing, Zikim on September 12, and the closure of the Anabi crossing between the West Bank and Jordan to obtain food aid supplies on September 24.
Israel says there is no quantitative limit to the food aid that enters Gaza and accuses Hamas of stealing aid, accusations that the Palestinian armed group denies.
About 73 % of aid trucks that carry food assistance in Gaza were intercepted in September by hungry civilians or strongly by armed gangs, according to Oka.
Since May 27, at least 2,340 people have been killed while searching for food or aid in Gaza – about half of them near military supply sites and the rest along the relief caravan roads, according to OCHA numbers as of September 29.
The Gaza Humanitarian Fund, which began to provide food in late May from a small number of distribution centers, denied the incidents that occur near its locations. It works outside the United Nations and supports Israel. As of September 29, he said more than 175 million meals.
