Why You Can’t Appreciate One Without the Other

Spread the love

I used to think about the “house” was a dirty word. There was – on the road – where life occurred, full of exciting adventures, great people, and endless possibilities. There are no bleak transfers, a 30 -minute lunch break, mental meetings, or endless lists of tasks that were pressed at the weekend.

Why does anyone want to be at home, the place where the routine seemed to be in your will? He puzzled me.

My first trip abroad – vacation to Costa Rica – made me fall in love with travel. For all the reasons mentioned above, I realized why the “holidays” were very romantic in the culture of work. There was freedom for them that stood in a flagrant contradiction with grinding daily companies.

Therefore, when I finally left my job, I set out on an adventure to experience the whole world that the world had to present as long as I could finally earn my money.

I mean, who can tire of life on the road?

Well, I.

In the end, I did a frame for being a full -time Bedouin. I was yearning for a stable group of friends, regular exercises, a tape that knows my name, a cooking kitchen, and a special churner.

Suddenly, I realized that the “house” was not a dirty word. I felt this way to an incomparable young spirit that felt the age of adulthood away.

I understood what I can understand what someone could not be borne is just romantic concepts about travel: you can burn. On my first trip, after 18 months, I hit the wall and decided to cut my trip. Years later, in 2013, I decided to be a Bedouin being no longer for me and decided to stop traveling full time.

It is time to grow, I said. It’s time to stay in a position and move from Nomad to … whatever happens after that.

But the attraction of the road – and the work of travel – withdrawing me constantly.

With the passage of years, I lived between two worlds: one in which I travel, I yearn to the house, and another at home, I yearn to go out again.

There were moments where I was eager to clone so that I could live in both and satisfy my double desires.

After all, you cannot – and should not – only live forever.

Because travel and home are supplementary powers, Yin and Yang. Without one, you cannot estimate the other.

He hit all travelers on the wall, at that moment when they look around and go, “I am ready to stay in one place.” When and why does this happen is the product of many factors, but I have not yet met a traveler who does not have this experience. When I started traveling in my twenties, it took me years to feel it. But now, two decades away, this happens only one month.

To deal with life, the brain creates mental shortcuts to help it process information. That is why we tend to lead the same way to work every day – it’s only easier, and for this reason you feel like “you can do this in your sleep.” Because if your brain is forced to discover a new way to work every day, it will expose itself. This routine allows us to put a lot of life on the automatic pilot, so we have energy for work, people, emotions, ideas, etc.

But when you travel, you depend on life skills every day. You do not have mental shortcuts. It takes a lot of mental energy to discover your path in the world again every day, to re -fill your bag, say goodbye to the person you met yesterday, and he goes out and tries again to move in lands, languages and uncommon people as if you hadn’t done it before.

It is tired.

While leave is a temporary break from life, long -term travel is different. When you travel in the long run (or if you move frequently), there is no break. You are constantly trying to discover things and constantly break your routine. Your travel battery banks.

However, in the same way, the travel battery must be recharged, our “home” battery as well.

While some people can follow the same routine throughout their lives, most of us cannot. We find it boring. We need a break. After a while in one place, we yearn to dismantle our daily routine monotony. Work, mobility, missions … day in, day outside, like ants walk on and.

So we go to travel again. We have an adventure, we meet new people, try new food, and we have new experiences. We may learn, grow and expand who we are as a person. Perhaps we are far away for a week or two or take a holiday month. Or we start working remotely and spending months. But in the end our battery drain: We are tired, then we go home again.

The course is repeated.

It made me grow older I think we can never estimate the house or travel without the other. My first years on the road were never amazing if I don’t try to free from a quarter of a century of routine. Likewise, my bed would never have been good if I hadn’t spent many years in this step, dressing rooms, and wrong sleep. I did not enjoy the relief that the routine brought if I hadn’t spent several days in an attempt to move on the world’s pressure for a long time.

The joy of one is amplified by the other.

Travel and home are two sides to the same currency. I appreciate everything now more than I was when I was younger, because I have experience on all of my conditions. I am not trying to escape from either of them or go to the extreme anymore. I simply follow their receding and flowing and let the battery of life dictate when one or another happens.

I think this is the wisdom that only comes with age – experience.
