Every year, Google releases a report highlighting the top trending searches, providing a snapshot of what’s captured our collective curiosity, including pop culture, entertainment, internet trends, and news events. This year, people all over the world were more curious about everything Hot honey and AI chatbots for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Before we get into the details, it’s worth noting that Google’s report does not reflect the total number of most popular searches. If this happens, the list will be filled with general terms like “weather” instead of popular topics. Instead, Google’s Year of Search report highlights search queries that saw a continued rise in traffic in 2025 compared to 2024.
However, this year’s most popular search was for ‘Gemini’, Google’s own chatbot, followed by ‘India vs England’ and ‘Charlie Kirk’. Gemini wasn’t the only AI chatbot to make the list, as DeepSeek ranked seventh among popular searches of the year.
In 2025, Google says Charlie Kirk was the most popular news topic, and the query “Assassination of Charlie Kirk” topped the list. The second and third popular news queries were “Iran” and “US government shutdown,” respectively.
As for recipes and food, first place went to Sweet and Spicy Hot Honey, while Marry Me Chicken and chimichurri rounded out the top three.
For movies, the most popular search was “Anora,” followed by “Superman” and “Minecraft Movie.” The most sought-after casting search went to “Anora” star Mickey Madison. Lewis Pullman, who starred in Marvel’s “Thunderbolts,” took second place, followed by Isabella Merced, who appeared in “Superman.”
In terms of sports, “FIFA Club World Cup” was the most popular search, followed by “AFC Asian Cup” and “FIFA Champions Cup”. The most searched sports team was Paris Saint-Germain, while the second and third teams were SL Benfica and Toronto Blue Jays, respectively.

As for podcasts, the most popular search was for “The Charlie Kirk Show,” followed by “New Heights” by Jason and Travis Kelce and “This is Gavin Newsom.”
For books, the most popular search was for “Regretting You” by Colleen Hoover. Rebecca Jaros’ “Onyx Storm” and Navisa Allen’s “Lights Out” rounded out the top three.
