Woman arrested on felony welfare fraud charges

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. — A Mechanicville woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she fraudulently received more than $3,000 in public assistance benefits.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said Jesika L. Christiansen, 38, was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree welfare fraud and two counts of offering a false instrument for filing, all felonies.

OTHER arrests of welfare fraud in the Capital Region.

Investigators say Christiansen provided false information about her employment on SNAP forms filed in November 2024 and May 2025. Authorities say the fraud occurred between December 2024 and May 2025.

Christiansen was released on appearance tickets and is due to appear in Ballston Spa Village Court.
