Kentucky Basketball has made a major move on the coaching staff, as Jackson State head coach Mo Williams is set to become an assistant coach under Mark Pope, according to KSR’s Jack Pilgrim.
This news comes just days after Kentucky landed a commitment from Williams’ son, Mason Williams, a 4-star point guard in the class of 2026. Safe to say this turned out to be a package deal.

The elder Williams was a standout at Alabama from 2001-03 before entering the NBA Draft, then went on to have a 13-year NBA career that included an NBA Championship with the 2015-16 Cleveland Cavaliers. He was also an NBA All-Star in the 2008-09 season.
After retiring following the 2015-16 season, Williams would later become an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge (2018-20), then became the head coach at Alabama State (2020-22) before later taking the same position at Jackson State, where he’s been since the 2022-23 campaign.
