The only problem… cats hate dogs! Also starring Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Kylie Kuioka, and Cathy Shim, PAWS OF FURY: THE LEGEND OF HANK pounces into theatres July 15, 2022.

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank was initially inspired by Mel Brooks’ western masterpiece, Blazing Saddles, and first titled Blazing Samurai. The project was announced in 2016, but has stumbled it way through development after several issues involving studio closures and dropouts. The film was passed around like a game of hot potato, finally the movie is nearing the finish line!

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank stars Michael Cera (Superbad), Ricky Gervais (The Office), Mel Brooks (Spaceballs), George Takei (Star Trek), Aasif Mandvi (Blue Bloods), Gabriel Iglesias (Maya and the Three), Djimon Hounsou (How to Train Your Dragon 2), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Kylie Kuioka, Cathy Shim (Reno 911) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers). The film is directed by Rob Minkoff (1994’s The Lion King), Mark Koestsier (Kung Fu Panda), and Chris Bailey.

Credited with writing the screenplay are Ed Stone, Nate Hopper, Mel Brooks, Norman Steinberg, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor, and Alan Uger. Andrew Bergman is credited with the story. The film is produced by Rob Minkoff, Adam Nagle, Peter Nagle, Guy Collins, Yair Landau, and Susan Purcell. Executive producers are Adrian Politowski, Alex Schwartz, Ben White, Reginald Hudlin, Wang Zhongjun, Wang Zhonglei, and Mel Brooks.

With a name like Mel Brooks tied to a movie, you usually don’t think of it being a children’s comedy, especially when it has ties to a movie that satires certain themes as Blazing Saddles. But Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank dares to make that attempt. Will they succeed? Especially after such a rough production history? We won’t have too much longer to find out! Considering Brooks himself is tied to the movie, that might give a glimmer of hope that we’ll have something fun in store. To its credit, the movie is promising fun by the armful! Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank is coming to theaters courtesy of Paramount Pictures on July 15th, 2022!
