Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 concluded, raising just over $2.5 million for the Cancer Prevention Foundation. Every Games Done Quick event is worth listening to live or later via VOD, but AGDQ was uniquely great, packed with rides that will go down as some of the best GDQ has to offer. Here are some of our favorites:
New Super Mario Bros Wii
The great thing about the Speedrunning community is that it’s often not enough to be the fastest runner in a given game. This is boring. For Lewis, just running New Super Mario Bros Wii It wasn’t enough to satisfy him. He had to get creative with this game, and decided to master playing the game as quickly as possible While playing the piano. But how can a person play a video game if his hands are full? The answer is clear: by controlling the game with your head and feet. I don’t know what drives a person to do this kind of thing, and I don’t care. All that matters is that Wes demonstrated the depth of human ability (and multitasking), and was mind-blowing to watch.
Al-Din ring Bonus offer
Speaking of amazing human talent, how about gaming Al-Din ring – A game known for its extreme difficulty – using the saxophone. I had been looking forward to this tour all week, and Dr. Dot did not disappoint, but not for the reason I expected. It’s one thing to beat the likes of Malenia and Blade of Miquella with a specially programmed aerophone. But nothing could have prepared me for every input, from performing an attack to using consumables and making a funny “doot” sound. I cried from laughter, it was so funny.
Super Metroid
Super Metroid It is a staple of GDQ, often proving the event’s final day in a week’s programming. But recently, GDQ has moved away from showing just a demo of the game to showcase all the work instead Super Metroid The modding community has helped keep this game since 1994 fresh and interesting. This is a four way race Super Metroid It includes a random map, meaning that the normal layout of the game has been modified and put together in a completely new configuration.
Random map for Metroid The game is uniquely dangerous because all the abilities you need to progress are no longer laid out in a logical way. Samus may run into the fiery craters of the Lower Norfare long before he finds Varia’s heat suit. And with the random map, it’s now much harder (and more time consuming) to find where the suit is. Now add the element of competition, and you have one of the best races in AGDQ history.
Crazy taxi With a live backing band
It used to be that if you wanted to avoid DMCA strikes for playing a game on Twitch with licensed music, you would just turn off the music. But AGDQ has come up with a new way to overcome this age-old problem. To this extent Crazy taxieach song was played by a cover band that turned AGDQ from a fast-paced video game event into an impromptu punk rock show — pit bull and all — and ruled. I won’t share any details. Just go and see it for yourself.
GDQ is a special and unique event for more reasons than showcasing cool, creative or crazy performances. In a world where cowardly companies have decided it’s okay to call women and people from the LGBTQ+ community slurs, and a world where gamers have a unique reputation for being terrible to each other for differences beyond our control, Games Done Quick has been very vocal in its support of marginalized people. Whether it is through its various programs Killer frame or Black in a flash Or just the fact that every other donation included a “trans rights” message, which was enthusiastically read aloud and cheered enthusiastically by the live audience.
Games Done Quick has been a shining example of how intentionally curated communities can foster acceptance and be a source of joy and goodness in a climate that needs it, and AGDQ 2025 was one of the best.
