Fort Worth, Texas – Two women have been charged with murder in connection with Thanksgiving night shooting in Fort Worth As a result, two were killed and a third was injured.
What we know: Fort Worth Police arrested 17-year-old Ty Sanders and 20-year-old Paige Wheaton. They are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jatavian Howard.
Both are currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail.
Police said the couple was in a group text message with two men that showed they planned to rob Howard at gunpoint.
During the robbery, the two men and Howard got into a gunfight and all three were shot, police said. Howard was taken to an area hospital where he died.
Another man, 18-year-old Javon Guyton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The third was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Timetable: Police were able to develop a timeline of events leading up to the shooting by reviewing camera footage.
According to Sanders’ memo, investigators said:
9:35pm – Howard parked his car near Broadmoor Apartments
9:42 PM – Guyton and the other man leave the apartment complex on foot and cross the street as they pass Howard’s vehicle before crossing again and walking back toward Howard’s vehicle.
9:45 PM – Guyton and the other man rushed Howard’s vehicle. A female jumps out of the passenger seat and runs away. A shootout occurred between the three and all three men were shot.
9:46 PM – The woman who escaped from Howard’s car is picked up by a car leaving the apartment complex.
Police received information that led investigators to Sanders and Wheaton, the affidavit states.
Police were able to interview Sanders, who told them she was with Wheaton and the two men at Thanksgiving and that she had been talking to a man on Snapchat and was going to meet him.
While she was in the car, two armed men approached her and she ran before Wheaton picked her up, the affidavit said.
The affidavit states that police were able to conduct a forensic search on Sanders’ phone and found a group chat with her and Wheaton and the two men discussing the attempted robbery.
