The official synopsis for Christmas Karen reads:
A Christmas Karen centers on an entitled, egocentric middle-aged woman named Karen (played by Simms), whose demanding and inconsiderate nature has alienated her from her neighbors and family alike. After a series of instances displaying her privilege, prejudice and bad attitude on Christmas Eve, Karen receives an “intervention” by three unconventional spirits who take her on a much-needed journey of self-awareness and self-reflection. Using humor to shine a spotlight on the lack of consideration and civility in today’s society, A Christmas Karen is ultimately a story about the power of redemption.

A Christmas Karen Reimagines A Christmas Carol
FilmRise
This film is one of many adaptations to be made based on the original story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It’s not even the only one that’s coming out soon, as Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell are co-starring in another movie based on the story called Spirited. But what A Christmas Karen brings to the table is having three ghosts pay visits to an entitled middle-aged white woman, someone often referred to these days as a “Karen.”
“We look forward to sharing this clever, comedic twist on Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol with streaming audiences everywhere. This film represents the type of lighthearted, feel good, funny entertainment we are looking for as we approach the holiday season,” Max Einhorn, SVP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions for FilmRise, said when the movie’s rights were acquired.
A Christmas Karen arrives on VOD on Nov. 18, 2022. You can find out more about the film by visiting its official website.
